The choice of finishing fabric
The choice of the finishing fabric depends on your individual requirements – be it functionality or design – and offers you numerous possibilities to perfectly round off your tufted project.
Functionality or design?
Depending on the intended use, wear and tear and personal taste, different materials and techniques are available. For a tufted rug that is subject to heavy wear and tear, for example in a much-used living space, the finishing fabric should be particularly robust and durable. In addition, a non-slip underlay can be incorporated into the carpet to increase comfort and safety. For decorative objects such as wall art or pot coasters, which are subject to less wear and tear, the border fabric can be made finer or even more aesthetic.
Which adhesive do I need to glue the carpet?
We particularly appreciate the high adhesive strength and long durability that our carpet adhesives from Geistlich offer. Thanks to the fast drying time, the area can be used promptly without having to wait long. In addition, the adhesive is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and ensures reliable, long-lasting adhesion.
The right adhesive for the edging tape
To stick the end weave or the anti-slip felt to the back of the carpet in a second step, you need a particularly strong spray adhesive. It is important not to use a conventional droplet spray adhesive, as this will not adhere sufficiently to the uneven surface of the carpet. For this reason, we offer an extra-strong contact spray adhesive that is ideal for gluing tufted carpets. This special adhesive ensures even adhesion and a permanent bond.
The perfect finish with the trimmer
Although it is usually used after the tufting process, it is part of the basic equipment in most tufting studios. It can be used to precisely cut the threads to the desired height to achieve an even finish. It ensures clean edges and gives the carpet the finishing touch. Without a carpet trimmer, it would be almost impossible to achieve the desired professional look.
