How to Clean and Take Care of Your Tufting Machine 🧹
Whether you own an original AK tufting machine from our shop or a model from elsewhere – regular care is essential. Proper cleaning and oiling keep your tufting machine running smoothly and extend its lifespan. In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how to clean and maintain your tufting machine step by step.
🧼 Cleaning Your Tufting Machine
After every tufting session – especially after a full day – you should clean your tufting machine. Tiny yarn fluffs often get stuck in moving parts, which can affect performance over time. Use a soft brush or cloth to remove these fibers carefully and keep the machine’s mechanisms clear.
Tip: Make this part of your daily tufting routine to avoid mechanical issues later on.
🛢️ How to Lubricate Your Tufting Machine
Regular lubrication is key to smooth operation. Focus on the four metal rails that guide the movement of the two white sliding blocks.
Apply a tiny drop of lubricant (not too much!) to each rail.
Turn on the machine and let it run for a few seconds to spread the oil.
If you’ve used too much, gently dab the excess with a cloth – don’t wipe it off completely.
Important: Avoid using standard sewing machine oil unless it’s clearly marked as a lubricant. Some oils are made to create friction (for gears), which is the opposite of what your tufting machine needs. Always read the label.

📦 Proper Storage for Your Tufting Machine
To protect your tufting machine between sessions, store it in the original foam inlet if you still have it. This keeps it padded, safe from bumps, and free from dust or snags.
