The most popular backing for punch needle rug hooking, this premium 100% cotton Monk’s Cloth works beautifully with all sizes of Oxford Punch Needles and is also perfect for traditional rug hooking.

Woven with a white guideline every two inches (5 cm), it helps you align your pattern precisely and stretch the fabric evenly across your frame. The weave contains approximately 13 double threads per inch, offering the ideal balance of strength and flexibility.

Please note that all pre-cut sizes are measured before serging, and final dimensions may vary slightly after finishing.

Helpful tip: Add 5 inches (12.7 cm) on each side of your pattern to allow for hemming. For example, if your rug measures 24" × 36" (60.96 × 91.44 cm), your backing should be around 34" × 46" (86.36 × 116.84 cm). Always double-check that the final size will fit your frame.
